A Guide to Finding Your Bridal Style
You’re getting married! And now it’s time to find a dress!
This can be one of the most exciting, and nerve racking times of the planning process. It’s also one of the biggest clothing purchases you’ll probably ever make! It’s a lot of pressure!
Here are our tips to finding the dream dress:
Think about what you wear on a regular basis.
Is it dressy? casual? over the top? If you normally are a casual dresser, then it may feel uncomfortable for you to wear a large jeweled ballgown on your day, and vice versa. Take notes from what you’re comfortable in on a day-to-day basis.
Have a budget!
We cannot overstate this. Wedding dresses can go from hundreds, to thousands of dollars. There are dresses for everyone, at every price point. Find what is feasible for you, and what is within the wedding budget.
Do your research.
Now that you are armed with your budget, look at dresses in your price range. We don’t recommend looking at dresses above your price range! The worst case is you fall in love with a dress, and it’s way above your budget. Look at many options and many shops in your area. There is a dress out there for you!
Go dress shopping.
Now is the fun part! Find local bridal salons and try on the ones you researched. It’s important to start looking 8-9 months out for a dress, at minimum! Dresses are often custom made, and it takes a long time for it to come back and then for a seamstress to make alterations.
You may not cry or immediately know it’s “the one,” and that’s okay! You may need to go back to the salon to try it on again to know. But, once you find one you love, then go for it!
STOP looking!
